Volumetric Dispensing

In volumetric dispensing, the quantity dispensed is controlled mechanically by a precisely defined volume. This remains consistent regardless of time, pressure or material viscosity.

Dispensing a specific volume

Volumetric dispensing is ideal for applications requiring maximum repeat accuracy and precise control over the quantity dispensed.

Overview of the procedure

    • Precision screw dispensing units or piston dispensing systems are used.
    • These are ideal for use with fluids and highly viscous media, such as guide glue or solder paste.
    • They offer exact synchronization with axis movements for precise dosing patterns.
    • Automatic calibration and monitoring via image processing.
    • It can be combined with other dosing techniques (e.g. jetting for refilling).

    APPLICATION EXAMPLES

      • Printed circuit board manufacturing: Precise application of solder paste to pads.
      • Power electronics: Applying filled thermal adhesive to the underside of power semiconductors.
      • Medical technology: Dosing tiny quantities of filled resins onto rotationally symmetrical geometries.
      • Microsystem technology: Creating structured lines of silver conductive adhesive with repeatable precision.

Infotech relies on high-precision screw dispensing units for volumetric dosing. These units are particularly well suited to filled or viscous media. The software continuously monitors the rotation of the screw and can precisely coordinate it with the system's axis movements. This enables complex patterns to be reliably applied with high repeat accuracy, even in hard-to-reach places thanks to the unit's slim design.

In complex applications, screw dispensing units can be combined with other dosing systems. For example, they can be used to build a dam that is then filled with a jetter. All volumetric systems are automatically calibrated, and the dispensing result can be verified and recorded using integrated image processing. Depending on the medium, piston dosing systems can be used as an alternative to screws.
